In 1995, he joined the Derek Trucks Band as lead singer and keyboardist, touring and recording with the group for five years. In 2000, McKay joined Leftover Salmon, contributing to their unique blend of bluegrass, rock, and Cajun influences for the next decade. His dynamic keyboard skills and soulful vocals have made him a respected and influential figure in the American music scene.
